Caitlin Barrie
Caitlin Barrie is a graduate from the textiles program at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD) University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Originally from a small community in Eastern Ontario, Caitlin grew up in a family of artists and craftspeople. She gained, from a very early age, a love of art and crafts from her mother, a watercolour artist, and her two grandmothers, who are quilters and knitters.
Throughout her studies at NASCAD University, Caitlin developed a passion for color in textiles, particularly in creating hand-woven cloth. She displayed such work in a solo exhibition at the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum in Almonte, Ontario. During the summer of 2011, Caitlin was an artist in residence at the Hector Heritage Quay, demonstrating and selling one-of-a-kind, hand-woven textiles for the home.
