Marianne Fraser

For many years Marianne worked as a professional photographer in Holland. She received her training at the ‘Fotovakschool (College for professional photography) in Holland. Her clients were a diversity of companies, from the ‘low profile-world’ of Public Transportation to the polished environment of the World Fashion Centre in Amsterdam.

In 2003 she moved with her family from the hustle and bustle of western Holland to the peace and quiet of rural Nova Scotia in Canada.

Being trained as an ‘old-school-photographer’, Marianne entered the world of digital photography reluctantly at first. But soon she discovered its endless creative possibilities and fell in love with it.

She is a strong believer that ‘less is more’. This principle also applies to her photography: peeling away layers until the essence is revealed. Macro photography opened a completely new world to her. In the smallest of every day things beautiful treasures are hidden.

More and more Marianne is beginning to understand the meaning of what Ansell Adams once said: ‘I believe the world is incomprehensibly beautiful and an endless prospect of magic and wonder.’ She finds this magic and wonder when she looks through the viewfinder of her camera and let time stand still. With her photography she hopes to communicate her feelings of joy and celebration to anyone who wants to see.

More of her work is to be found on her website www.mariannefraser.com.
