RK Art Exhibition at the People’s Place Library until Dec 16, 2011

by Ruth Young on November 25, 2011

RK Art is the first show that Deborah Jenkins is involved in organizing under a recent Canada Council grant. She is working with residence of the RK Nursing Home and continuing the tradition of enriching the quality of life though art making. The works on exhibit span the last two years and include pieces done in the Friday afternoon sessions with Alice Hoskins.

Deborah will be making a video on bringing art to the RK as well as developing an installation in which she seeks to involve each resident. “I am working as artist in residence at RK MacDonald from October 31 to March 31.  The purpose of this program is to support the residents in their creative endeavors: I would like to see them engrossed in making work that is both satisfying and meaningful to them. Meeting this objective means providing a supportive environment where people feel free to experiment. We will explore different perceptions of what art is and workshop art making techniques.”
