Blackout Poetry Workshop

Visual Blackout Poetry Art Workshop

Come out for an all-ages, fun-filled workshop to learn to make recycled poetry and art! Through a combination of collage and drawing you will create unique pieces of written and visual creativity.

Local author, Melissa Kuipers, will guide us through the process of selecting words from a book page to create new meaning by overlaying the page with collage, drawing, and lines to create a one-of-a-kind multidisciplinary art piece.

Blackout poetry is a form of writing that takes the words from pre-existing texts and literally “blacks out” words and phrases to make poetry from the remaining words.

Supplies such as old books and a few collage materials will be provided. However you are more than welcome to bring old magazines and other extra craft supplies for collage that you may like to use.

The workshop will take place Saturday, August 15th from 1-3pm in the Antigonish Public Library bistro (the area facing Main Street). Free fun for all!

Looking forward to creating with you!
