CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS:
2026 Artist-in-Residence in the classroom
Supported by Antigonish Culture Alive (ACA), Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, and the ASAP Artist Residency program
Antigonish Culture Alive (ACA) is seeking submissions for a paid artist residency in a Grade 4 French immersion classroom. The artist will select a theme and learning objectives and then create and teach a multi-stage arts project for students to complete over the course of 5-7 classes (10 classroom hours in total) in the spring of 2026. The residency is open to all artists living in Antigonish town and county and is open to any artistic disciplines or media.
The program is designed to be flexible, engaging, and complementary to the existing curriculum. The purpose is to develop an appreciation of fine arts, creativity, self-expression and imagination in young students. The project may be collaborative, individual or a combination.
The final project will be presented as an exhibit at the Antigonight Art festival in the fall.

Eligibility Requirements

Must be a resident of Antigonish Town and/or County

Must be 18 years of age or older

Must submit all required application materials

Must complete a Vulnerable Sector Police Check and pass the Nova Scotia Child Abuse Registry before commencing the residency

Artist must speak some French as the residency is in a French immersion classroom
Submission Requirements

Compensation
- Artist Fee: $1, 500 (includes planning, admin, and 10 classroom hours, 5-7 sessions)
- Materials: up to $450
