


Antigonish Culture Alive is offering a 5-month contract for a Festival Coordinator to manage Antigonight, Antigonish’s annual arts festival. We are looking for a leader who is flexible, organized, effective in verbal and written communication, enthusiastic about supporting local artists, and can be in Antigonish, NS, several days a week for the duration of the contract (preference for a resident of Antigonish town or county).

Contract length: 5 months
Weekly hours: approximately 15 hours a week, flexible, increasing to full-time before and during the festival
Start date: May 4, 2026
End date: September 30, 2026
Wage: $7000
The Festival Coordinator will work with the Artistic Director, Antigonight sub-committee, and supervise a small team of contracted summer positions (2-4 people) to create a participatory visual and performing arts festival in September 2026.
This position is ideal for a highly motivated, organised, and self-directed individual who enjoys working in teams, community engagement, event planning, and collaborating with artists and local groups. Interest or experience in the arts is essential and must be included in your cover letter. The Festival Coordinator should also be confident in communicating (written and in-person) with the public, municipal staff, and artists as a leader and representative of a charitable organization. The applicant is expected to complete and delegate tasks in a timely, self-directed manner, as determined by themselves and the Antigonight team. Applicants must also own a computer and have comfort with technology. The successful applicant will be required to submit a Vulnerable Sector Police Check and a Nova Scotia Child Abuse Registry before signing the contract.
Accessibility and inclusivity are an essential aspect of the festival, knowledge of local community partners, non-profits, and willingness to learn and advocate for accessible spaces is an asset.
Tasks:
- supervise the festival staff team in consultation with the Festival Chair and Artistic Director
- oversee communication, promotion and publicity of events
- coordinate with selected presenting artists
- volunteer recruitment, training and oversight
- secure venues for events
- oversee fundraising and budget
Requirements:
- high school diploma; preference for a BA or higher degree
- leadership and management experience
- experience volunteering or working in arts-related community activities
- organization and communication skills
- people skills/collegial work attitude/effective team player
- ability to work remotely and in-person in Antigonish several times a week
- proficiency with social media, Google docs, etc.
