🎨 Artist Registry: Community Guidelines
Our mission is to foster a vibrant and professional creative community in Antigonish. To maintain the quality and integrity of the registry, all members are asked to adhere to the following standards:
1. Eligibility & Local Connection
The registry is intended for artists, makers, and performers who live, work, or have a significant connection to Antigonish and the surrounding counties.
- Categories include: Visual Arts, Music, Performing Arts, Dance, Craft, Literary Arts, and Digital Media.
2. Professionalism in Presentation
Since this registry is a public-facing tool to help you find work and fans, please ensure your profile reflects your best professional self:
- Images: Upload clear, high-resolution photos of your work (maximum 2MB). Avoid blurry, dark, or cluttered backgrounds.
- Bio/Statement: Write in the first or third person. Keep it focused on your creative process, background, and current work.
3. Content Standards
To ensure the registry remains a safe and welcoming space for all ages, we do not permit:
- Hate Speech: Content that promotes discrimination, disparages, or handles others with hostility based on race, religion, gender, or orientation.
- Copyright Infringement: You must own the rights to all images and media uploaded to your profile. Do not upload work that is not yours.
- Excessive Self-Promotion: While links to your shop or portfolio are encouraged, the registry is a directory of people, not a marketplace for daily sales advertisements.
4. Accuracy of Information
Artists are responsible for keeping their contact information and medium categories up to date.
- Ensure your “Medium” selection (e.g., Music vs. Visual Art) accurately represents your primary practice to help users find you through the search filters.
5. Moderation and Removal
All profiles undergo a “vibe check” by staff before going live. Antigonish Culture Alive team reserves the right to:
- Request edits to bios or images that do not meet professional standards.
- Decline or remove profiles that violate these guidelines or misrepresent their connection to the local community.
